Almost 80% of the diseases in Vietnam are caused by polluted water. There are many cases of cholera, dysentery and malaria. Dysentery is now one of the leading causes of child mortality under the age of five in Vietnam. Each year millions of children and their families in Vietnam remain at serious risk from water borne disease, poisoning and skin problems.
The water tanks enable families to store rainwater their daily uses especially for drinking and cooking. And the impact on the community from water tank projects is improves overall health, especially gynaecological diseases in women, an increase in productivity and a decrease in costs for clean water and medical costs.
Besides that, the water tanks will bring great help to elderly or handicapped people as they can save money from buying and hiring people to carry clean water in for them.
